Photographing a bodypainting model can be a little more challenging than a fashion model, for example.

You will usually meet models who are doing this for the first time, so please never assume that the models know what you expect of them. Communication to make sure that the models are comfortable and feel safe is essential. Having a few ideas about poses that might work for new models whilst making the most of the design painted on them would be helpful.

Body painters love a headdress or a prop, so being able to capture an image against a backdrop may not be straightforward! Luckily, Bath BodyArt Weekend is in a gorgeous setting with many locations around the site that can be used to provide interesting settings for photography. We also love shiny things, paint, glitter or adornments, so understanding how to get the best photos with a little sparkle, does help!
